About

Dr. Tim Havens is a trained psychiatrist from Harvard Medical School. He received his M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine. After an internship in surgery, he went on to serve as a medical officer in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.


He is the senior vice president of The Levinson Institute. He also serves as director of the Leadership for Physician Executives program at Harvard Medical School. He is a psychoanalyst at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, and a guest lecturer at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, and other universities throughout the country.


With over two decades of coaching experience, Dr. Havens has coached leaders on how to improve and optimize their effectiveness. He has designed leadership programs for managers and executives. He also works as a consultant for businesses, government, educational and healthcare organizations, providing expertise in managing personal and organizational change.


Dr. Havens has written articles on effective organizational leadership and lectures extensively on leadership development, managing organizational change, executive coaching, medical leadership, and building effective management teams.
