Dr. Beth Frates is considered a trailblazer in lifestyle medicine, with decades of experience in developing and delivering tools people need to live a healthy lifestyle.
Dr. Frates is the first physician to be certified as a health and wellness coach in the United States. She has co-authored The Lifestyle Medicine Handbook, ranked as one of the top medical books of all time.
In her 20 years of teaching at Harvard University as a clinical assistant professor, Dr. Frates has developed many wellness programs that are now taught at medical schools across the US, including a full semester Lifestyle Medicine course at Harvard.
Dr. Frates has served on the Board of Directors for the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM), helped develop ACLM’s certification exam, and was recently voted President of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine.
She completed her internship in internal medicine at Mass General Hospital and her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Harvard Department in Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital where she served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Frates founded Coaches Collaborative in 2018. The organization brings together outstanding physicians from major academic institutions like Harvard.
